Nintendo has had a big 2025, having launched a brand-new console earlier in the year: the Switch 2. It is a significant upgrade over the original, boasting more powerful hardware, way more storage, and a vibrant 1080p touchscreen. Given the immense popularity of the first Switch, it’s no surprise that the newer model has been a runaway success. In fact, it became Nintendo’s fastest-selling console of all time, moving over 3.5 million units in its first four days.

In the lead-up to Black Friday, Nintendo has rolled out several console bundles across major retailers. They’re all great, but my favorite is the Switch 2 + Pokémon Legends: Z-A bundle, which is available for $499.99 at Best Buy. Technically, it’s not discounted, but the value here is undeniable, especially if you’re a Pokémon fan like me.
As someone who’s been with the series since the beginning, I was excited to dive into Pokémon Legends: Z-A. It’s a bold departure from the mainline games, replacing the traditional turn-based battle with real-time combat that gives players full control over their creature’s movements, dodges, and attacks.
In this title, you won’t be exploring the outdoors as the game takes place in an expanded version of Lumiose City from Pokémon X and Y, a sprawling metropolis with rooftops to climb and underground tunnels to explore. It also introduces over 25 new Mega Pokémon with more to come in the future.

How I rated this deal
A deal like this is hard to rate. If I were to rate this bundle solely using ZDNET’s scoring system, it would only earn a 1/5, as the savings amount to only about $20. The console costs $450, while the game retails for $70. Still, I think the overall value is worth highlighting. The original Switch launched eight years ago and remains popular to this day, and the Switch 2 seems poised to enjoy an equally long life.
Plus, considering the fact that some of the other bundles cost over $500, this Pokémon Legends: Z-A package stands out as one of the best all-around deals. Pick it up while it lasts.
