This tablet is designed specifically for kids aged 6-12 and has 3GB of memory, a 13-hour battery, and an eight inch HD screen. Our experts rated it the best kids’ tablet for little kids for many reasons including its colorful and kid-proof case “built to withstand the drops and bumps, and an adjustable stand so your kids can go hands-free.” Other perks of this tablet include a free one-year subscription to Amazon Kids+ and an Amazon FreeTime Unlimited subscription, which “grants access to thousands of kid-friendly, ad-free books, movies, games, and other educational content.”

One particularly great aspect of the tablet is its customization capabilities to suit kids of all ages. The home screen can be set to a “younger” or “older kid” theme, which allows younger users to see bigger icons and older kids to get more used to the formatting of a traditional tablet. A Parent Dashboard is password or PIN protected, though you can also use the parental controls from the Amazon Kids+ mobile app to access history data, change themes or age filters, set timers, and add or remove apps.

In her review, Maria Diaz verifies that Amazon has made a tablet “strong enough to survive the trials and tribulations of the rowdiest of kids,” and notes that each Fire tablet comes with a 2-year warranty for free replacements should an accident happen. While it’s not the fastest tablet available, the Amazon Fire HD 8 Kids tablet–> is built to endure, and would make a great holiday gift for little ones–especially at this price.

How I rated this deal

The Amazon Fire HD 8 Kids Pro tablet isn’t as fast as an iPad, and it’s not even the latest edition of the Fire HD tablet series. Still, it’s a quality device for under $70 and over 50% off, and I think it’s earned a 5 out of 5 rating.
