The Dell laptop I recommend to most college students is $350 off at Best Buy

Dell//ZDNET

For many states, the next school semester is right around the corner, and now is the time to start shopping for a new laptop. The question is, what should you get? MacBooks are a solid and popular choice, but what if you want to stay on Windows and are on a budget? I recommend the Dell Inspiron 14 Plus to those people.

Over at Best Buy, the Inspiron 14 Plus has received a 35% discount, going from $1,000 to $650. I am particularly excited about this build because of its top-notch hardware. The model houses a Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus chipset and 16GB, providing solid performance. It even has a 512GB SSD, which is plenty of space for school projects. The laptop even comes in a nice Ice Blue color.

Because its hardware is part of the Qualcomm family, it also comes equipped with the company’s Hexagon NPU, which provides an AI-powered boost to performance. That said, don’t expect it to compete alongside a high-end machine like a MacBook Pro. It’s not on the same level as those devices. I should also mention that above the keyboard is a vibrant Quad HD (2,560 x 1,600) touchscreen paired with four up-and-down-firing speakers. An array like this is perfect for watching movies while on break.

Another area where the Dell Inspiron 14 Plus–> shines is in its longevity. In my review, I clocked the laptop lasting a full 21 hours straight on a single charge before tapping out. To this day, I have seen very few laptops reach that number. That’s long enough to last multiple classes, after-school study sessions, and Netflix binge-watching at night.

How I rated this deal

As per ZDNET’s rating system, I give this deal a near-perfect score of 4/5. Speaking from personal experience, college is tough. It’s expensive, you’re super busy, and the work can be tough. I wish I had a laptop this good when I was going to university. It would’ve alleviated a lot of stress at the time. Granted, there are a lot of great options out there. But this Dell Inspiron stands as one of the best.
