The MacBook Air with the M4 chip is only a few months old, but Apple has already dropped its pricing in hopes of keeping consumers’ attention on Apple products, especially with this latest dose of economic uncertainty.
Apple’s MacBook line of laptops aren’t historically known for being the most cost-friendly options out there, but right now, that reputation might not apply. Case in point: the 13-inch MacBook Air M4, released only a few months ago, is discounted down to $850 across major retailers such as Amazon<!–>, Best Buy–>, and B&H Photo/Video<!–>. This is a great price for the new M4 Air, especially since it’s so new.

I went hands-on with the M4 MacBook Air earlier this year and called it out as easily one of my favorite laptops of the year for its versatility and sophisticated design. The M4 is an incremental upgrade from last year’s M3, refining on what makes the ultraportable great, while offering more memory for less money and the new powerful M4 processor.
I also called out the MacBook Air M4 as a solid laptop for work for a few reasons. First, and most obvious, this thing is thin and light, and if you’re like me and commute on a hybrid schedule, you’ll appreciate something you can slip into your bag.
Second, the M4 Air can now support up to two external monitors with the lid open, allowing you to work with a total of three displays, something it previously was not able to do.

Lastly, the webcam on the M4 MacBook Air is nothing short of impressive. The 12MP Center Stage camera with support for Apple’s Desk View feature has clear, well-lit image during videoconferencing and surprisingly good audio to boot. Outside of work, the videocall experience with FaceTime is still one of the most seamless and user-friendly, with the ability to mirror your phone onto the laptop for added integration.
The $850 sale price applies to the 13-inch MacBook Air M4 with 16GB of unified memory and 256GB of storage. This is a lighter configuration that is great for someone who works in the cloud and wants an ultraportable, light laptop that can do a bit of everything, but excels as a sleek and snappy work machine.

On the performance side, the M4 is quite well-suited for demanding workloads like photo and video editing, and the Liquid Retina display makes it a great machine for creative tasks.
As of writing, the sale applies to all four colorways of the MacBook Air M4: Midnight, Silver, Starlight, and the new color, Sky Blue. Just keep in mind that certain colors might sell out first (Sky Blue was very popular when it first launched).
