The iPhone 16’s new camera button is the feature I’m most excited about. Here’s how it works

Jason Hiner/ZDNETApple’s annual September keynote always debuts the next best iPhone model, and this year, we can expect the iPhone 16 series during the Monday, September 9 event. Along with the usual upgrades to the cameras, processor, and color palette, Apple is also rumored to include a dedicated camera button on the phones to make taking photos and videos easier. Also: What to expect from Apple’s iPhone 16 ‘It’s Glowtime’ event, and how to watch the livestreamAccording to Bloomberg, the camera button will work similarly to a shutter button you’d normally see on a DSLR camera. You’ll be able to press down on the button lightly to focus the camera on subjects better, and then a harder press takes the actual picture. The touch-sensitive button will supposedly also allow you to choose between photo and video shooting modes, as well as zoom in and out of a subject. Again, this is much like a zoom dial on a traditional camera. For older generations that grew up using disposable or digital cameras, this could be a welcome addition to smartphone devices to make it easier to get the perfect picture while also making it more accessible for people with mobility issues.  More

How to use Midjourney’s website to generate amazing images with AI

Screenshot by Lance Whitney/ZDNETLooking for a logo for your business, artwork for a project, or an image for a report? You can choose from an array of generative AI apps and sites to create your image. However, one service that offers truly impressive results is Midjourney. With this tool, you can simply describe the type of image you want by entering a text prompt. In return, the site delivers four high-quality renderings. How to use: Craiyon AI | Bing Image Creator | DALL-E 3 | Stable DiffusionHow Midjourney worksInitially, Midjourney required you to use Discord to create and fine-tune your AI-based images. That process required a fair amount of fiddling with text-based prompts, which was a clumsy and sometimes frustrating experience. To appeal to those who didn’t like the Discord method, Midjourney kicked off a dedicated website late last year. Also: The best AI image generators of 2024: Tested and reviewedAt first, the website was limited to people who had generated at least 10,000 images via Discord, excluding a lot of folks. Now that the site is accessible to anyone, all Midjourney users can use it to generate images. One of the perks of the website, at least for now, is that your first 25 AI-generated images are free. After that, you’ll have to pony up for a paid subscription.A Basic Plan will run you $10 a month or $96 a year, a Standard Plan $30 a month or $288 a year, a Pro Plan $60 a month or $576 a year, and a Mega Plan $120 a month or $1,152 a year. Each tier gives you increasingly faster results, among other benefits. To get a taste of Midjourney, you may want to start with the Basic Plan to see how well it works for you.
