Kerry Wan/ZDNETA series of renders of what is reportedly Google’s upcoming Pixel 9a phone surfaced recently online. The images come from notable tech leaker OnLeaks, who shared his findings with the news site Android Headlines. Also: The Google Pixel phone I recommend to most people is not a flagship (and it’s $200 off)Before diving deep into the renders and seeing what they show,These renders display an early build of what could be the Pixel 9a, so take them with a grain of salt. Leaked details on unreleased products are always subject to change. That said, the prototype phone in these images is quite interesting. One especially noteworthy change: The prominent camera bar on the other Pixel 9 models is no longer there. Instead, the rear lenses sit almost flush with the phone’s back, surrounded by a small ring. Next to the ring is the flash bulb. More

Sabrina Ortiz/ZDNETGenerative AI is a work in progress and many of the newer AI features that companies are working on still require further development before being released to the public. As a result, many companies often release features to smaller testing groups first — and Microsoft will start doing so now, too. On Tuesday, Microsoft unveiled several updates to Copilot, including new features such as Copilot Voice, Think Deeper, and Copilot Vision. However, not all these features are rolling out to the public yet. Rather, the experimental features will live in a new home: Copilot Labs. Also: I tested the new Copilot Voice, Microsoft’s AI voice assistant. You can, too – for freeCopilot Labs works the same way as Google Labs, placing experimental features still in development in one place for people to easily access, try, and give feedback that can then be incorporated into further product development. Upon launch, Copilot Labs will be home to two experimental features: Copilot Vision and Think Deeper. Both features will expand on what Copilot does to add new levels of assistance for users. More

PM Images/Getty Images There is a hard way. And there is an easy way. Google, despite its willingness to collect a fair amount of bucks from me every month for my enterprise plan, does not offer an easy way. Luckily, there’s a tool that does – but first let’s recap my never-ending cloud storage saga. […] More

Surprise, surprise: another Prime Day is almost here. Though we just had a Prime Day sale in July, Amazon is hosting its Prime Big Deal Days event on Oct. 8-9, ahead of the busy holiday shopping season. Also: The best October Prime Day deals you can shop right nowAs someone who has researched and written about these deals events for over a year, I’ve noticed a lot of fake “deals” that run amok during sales like Prime Day. Brands will raise the price of a product ahead of a discount to make the deal look more attractive than it actually is. Since most people aren’t checking the price of an e-reader five days ahead of Prime Day and two days after (like I do for my job), they won’t see this trick and will think they’re saving themselves some money. They aren’t. And often, the best deals are on Amazon-owned products, like Kindles, Echo speakers, and Ring doorbells, since Amazon has the most control over its merchandise during deals events. So if you’re in the market for a new e-reader for yourself or your loved one (or you’re already getting a start on holiday shopping — kudos to you), now could be the time to buy a Kindle. Not every Kindle deal is worth your while, and I’ll do my best to highlight the ones that are during this October Prime Day. But a deals event like Prime Day is one of the best times of the year for buying a Kindle. While we wait for the official deals to take shape next week, peruse these deals on certain models, Kindle accessories, and even some dupes from Amazon Fire and Kobo Clara below. Maria Diaz/ZDNETRing made big announcements today, including the highly anticipated 24/7 recording feature, video preview alerts, doorbell calls, and extended live view. The company also rebranded its Ring Protect Plan to Ring Home. The tiered subscription plan enables customers to save videos in the cloud for later viewing, share videos, and access Ring Alarm features.Aside from a name change for its subscription plan, Ring’s biggest new feature is 24/7 recording for eligible wired cameras. This enables users to record continuously, with the cameras capturing whatever goes on around them, even outside pre-determined motion zones. Also: The 50+ best early October Prime Day 2024 deals to shop nowNotifications from the Ring mobile app will also have an option to show video previews for the first time. This type of rich notification gives users a short video preview of what triggered the motion detection alert without opening the Ring app, similar to Google Home’s preview notifications with Nest cameras.
