This deep discount on one of my favorite speakers might be the highlight of Prime Day

Beats launched the latest generation of its Pill speaker<!–> last year, which delivered big sound in a stylish and portable form factor. It’s usually $100 during major sales, but this time around, it’s at an all-time, surprisingly low price of $50. I believe it’s one of the most valuable deals during this Amazon Prime Day – I’ve already recommended the Pill to loved ones, and I couldn’t recommend it more at this price.

The only caveat is that the deal applies exclusively to the Light and Dark Gray colors. If you’re not a fan of neutrals, you can still find this speaker for $100, which is $50 off its original price.

I’ve reviewed numerous Bluetooth speakers, and although many are similar, the Beats Pill combines rugged features suitable for outdoor use with sleek design elements suitable for indoor use. Additionally, unique integration with iOS and Android enables device tracking technology for both ecosystems.

Aside from delivering big bass in a small frame, the Beats Pill is compatible with Lossless audio playback via USB-C when wired to a compatible device. It also sports an IP67 durability rating, meaning it’s totally dust-tight and can withstand immersion in water up to three feet for up to 30 minutes.

Alongside those features, the Beats Pill<!–> promises 24 hours of playtime and a light frame for portability. When I tested it, I appreciated its redesigned look combined with its durability features. Not many Bluetooth speakers adequately blend outdoor usability features with indoor design elements, so whenever I see one, I love it.

I often recommend this speaker when it’s on sale for $100, and seeing it further discounted at $50 is a no-brainer for me. The only major caveat is that the Pill is incredibly bass-heavy, which can overwhelm some tracks within certain genres. Additionally, this exceptional price point is limited to two neutral colors, which restricts your deal options. Still, it’s the lowest price I’ve seen it to date.

How I rated this deal

This deal received a 5/5 rating from ZDNET’s criteria, due to its significant discount on a relatively new product that we’ve thoroughly tested and highly recommended. I don’t think I’ll see this speaker go any lower than $50, despite the discount being limited to two colorways.
