ZDNET’s key takeaways

  • Ugreen’s MagFlow 3-in-1 is on sale at Amazon for $99.
  • It charges an iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods all at once with 25W Qi2.2 wireless charging.
  • It’s a little pricey for a travel charger when not on sale.

I pretty much always travel with my complete set of Apple gear: my iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods — and that means a lot of cables. The iPhone and AirPods now all use USB-C so that’s great, but the Apple Watch still needs that proprietary charging pad.

What would be neat is to be able to charge everything wirelessly. The AirPods and my Apple Watch Ultra 3 only need a top-up every night, and the iPhone can how charge at 25W thanks to Qi2.2 compatibility.

Problem is, compact, travel-friendly 3-in-1 wireless chargers aren’t common, and ones that support the newer charging standard are rarer still.

Ugreen seems to have thought about this very problem with the MagFlow 3-in-1 magnetic wireless charger<!–> – a very travel-friendly all-in-one charging solution for your Apple gadgets.

On first blush, it looks a lot like a power bank, but it opens out, transforming into a three-bay wireless charging station. On the front is a 25W Qi2.2 (also, confusingly branded as Qi2 25W). This can handle iPhones (or any smartphone with a wireless charging pad), and charge at anything from 5W to 25W.

Behind that is a 5W charging pad for the AirPods, and another 5W pad for the Apple Watch.

Plus, it can handle all your devices simultaneously, allowing them all to charge at full speed (you’d be amazed how many 3-in-1 wireless chargers fail this test).

To power the charging station, you need a charging block that can put out 45W or more, and conveniently, this setup actually comes with one. It is a US-only one, so if you need to use this for traveling abroad, you’ll need a compatible charger (something like this<!–>). You also get a USB-C cable.

One thing that annoys me about a lot of 2-in-1 and 3-in-1 charging stations is how unstable they are. This one, however, is super stable, and there are even little rubber feet on the bottom — quite robust little rubber feet, since they have resisted me picking them off and haven’t fallen off — to keep the unit at bay on any surface, be in on a desk or nightstand.

ZDNET’s buying advice

I’ve been looking for a compact Qi2.2 3-in-1 charging station like this, and I’m pleased to see that Ugreen has not only delivered, but made a product that checks all the boxes. This Ugreen MagFlow 3-in-1 MagFlow charging station<!–> charges everything at full speed, it’s compact, stable, and perfect for the nightstand or suitcase.

This one has earned a permanent place in my travel kit.

It’s not cheap at $140, but it’s one of the best units around, and you do get the charging station, a charging block, and the cable. And over on Amazon, Prime members can get 29% off, bringing it down to $100.
