As part of a wide-ranging deal to bring Perplexity AI to a number of devices, newer Samsung TV models (and eventually older ones) are getting a new Perplexity TV app starting today. The app works alongside Samsung’s Vision AI Companion, using generative AI to help you quickly find the information or content you need, and to discover new things.
What Perplexity can do for you on a TV
As Samsung explains, Perplexity is “an AI-powered answer engine that draws from credible sources in real time,” accurately answering your questions, performing deep research into topics, and even suggesting additional questions that let you engage with your content.

Given Perplexity’s capabilities, there’s quite a bit you can do. Samsung offers a few examples — like planning a trip, finding which movies were directed by the Russo Brothers, or creating the ultimate fantasy lineup.
The company didn’t offer other specific examples beyond advertising and that you can “find answers to anything,” but if the app functions like Gemini on Google TV (which it should), you’ll also be able to ask things like “show me the highest rated show on Netflix,” “find TV shows like Stranger Things,” or “pull up entertainment for a Halloween party,” get headline summaries, ask for help with everyday tasks, and more.

Essentially, anything you could ask Perplexity before, you can now do from your TV screen.
This move comes as other TV manufacturers are introducing similar technology. The long-awaited Gemini feature for Google TV, which first debuted on the TCL QM9K, is now rolling out to other models (it’s showing up on Sony Bravia TVs).

How to use Perplexity AI on your Samsung TV
Here’s how to use your new Perplexity TV app:
- Go to the Perplexity TV app in the Apps tab or in the Vision AI Companion on your TV.
- Accept the terms and conditions. You can use the on-screen keyboard or a USB keyboard to enter commands in the app, but you must grant microphone access if you want to use the voice component.
- Once that’s done, you can navigate to the Perplexity TV app on your TV’s home screen anytime you want to use it.
How to get Perplexity Pro for free on your TV
As a bonus, Samsung revealed that Perplexity is offering a free 12-month subscription to Perplexity Pro for all users. When you use the Perplexity TV app for the first time, you’ll see a QR code to redeem.
