Pixel and Fitbit owners are about to have a lot more peace of mind, as Google has launched a new protection program for Pixel and Fitbit devices — including phones, tablets, and wearables.
In an announcement<!–> this week, the company detailed the new Pixel Care+ program, which is aimed at providing “a higher level of coverage, service and peace of mind” for flagship devices.

The program is only open to newer devices – for the Pixel 8 lineup and newer phones, the Pixel Watch 2 and newer watches, and the Pixel Tablet. For Fitbit devices, you can enroll a Fitbit Ace LTE, Fitbit Sense 2, Fitbit Versa 4, Fitbit Charge 6, and Fitbit Inspire 3.
The price is a little more than Google’s current protection plan, but it brings it in line with what Apple Care+ offers. In some cases, like the deductible cost, it even surpasses it. And remember, Apple Care+ doesn’t offer the multi-year subscriptions to save money as it once did.
What does Pixel Care+ include?
New benefits include:
- Unlimited claims for accidental damage, extended warranty claims, or mechanical damage
- Free screen and battery repairs
- Free after warranty malfunction claims
- Genuine Google parts and replacements
- Priority support from Pixel Experts
- Self-service claims through the Google Store website
- Optional added loss and theft coverage
Google adds that it’s also making the claims process easier by allowing you to file a claim straight from the Google Store, where you can choose a time and date for your appointment.
How much does Pixel Care+ cost?
Pricing varies depending on device (you can find a complete list here–>). As an example, coverage for a Pixel 10 Pro Fold is $16 a month or $299 for two years (saving you $84). The Pixel 10 Pro and 10 Pro XL are $13 a month or $239 for two years, while the base Pixel 10 is $9 a month or $179 for two years. That’s priced fairly closely with what Samsung and Apple charge for their respective insurance programs.
Coverage for a Pixel Watch 4 is $5 a month or $99 for two years. Upgrading to loss and theft protection (which isn’t available in New York) adds a few dollars a month, but there is a deductible of $60 to $100 to get your device replaced.
Pixel Care+ is available now for new eligible devices in the US, and you can add it within 60 days of purchase through the Google Store or the My Pixel app.
If you’re an existing Google Preferred Care or Fi Device Protection customer, your subscription will be rolled over to the new program.
