The Sony WH-1000XM4 is the predecessor to two favorite headphones we’ve written at length about, the WH-1000XM5<!–> and the WH-1000XM6. We’ve put the WH-1000XM6 and WH-1000XM5 at the top of so many best lists for their exceptional noise-canceling, all-day comfort, strong battery life, great microphones, and, because it’s Sony, gorgeous sound. The only downside to this headset? It’s $400. And there aren’t too many differences between the XM4 and XM5. The main difference is the build style (the XM4 is collapsible, while the XM5 isn’t, a common gripe reviewers and customers have with the latest model). The XM5 headphones–> and the XM6 headphones<!–> are on Amazon, too, but neither of them are on sale.

The headphones offer 30 hours of battery life, a 40mm driver size, and Bluetooth 5.0.

How I rated this deal
As per ZDNET’s rating system, I give this deal a score of 2/5. $71 off is a 21% discount, which is decent. We have, however, seen better price drops. During the most recent Amazon Prime Day event, these headphones were actually 50% off. It’s unknown if this bigger price cut will ever return. I recommend grabbing a pair while the deal lasts.
