Prime Day is about two weeks away, but you can already find some hidden-gem offers on quality products. My favorite JBL portable Bluetooth speaker is on sale for $70, its best price yet.

A portable speaker is a must for everyone, in my opinion. They truly are great for amplifying music, podcasts, and more. My favorite pick is JBL’s Flip 5 Bluetooth speaker — it’s an oldie, but certainly a goodie. I’ve had this speaker for several years; it was the perfect investment before entering college. It’s lightweight, IPX7 waterproof, and has 12 hours of playtime. It comes in many colors (I have the pink) and usually sells for around $90-$100.

Right now, though, you can scoop one up for $70 — the best price yet according to Camel Camel Camel<!–> and one of the best prices I’ve seen in my time as deals and shopping editor these last two years.

Keep in mind that this speaker is a few years old, and there is a newer Flip 6–> and Flip 7<!–> on the market. So if you’re looking for a similar pick that’s newer or more advanced, this may not be the buy for you. Some alternative options that are more current are Sony’s Ult Field 1 and Ult Field 3 speakers, which are both ZDNET-tested picks.

The JBL Flip 5 in black.

ZDNET expert Nina Raemont loves the Ult Field 1 for its portable size and clear sound. Redditors<!–> said that the JBL Flip 5 is a pretty decent speaker for the price and size. Some users said the midrange is better than the newer Fiip 6, while others said it’s a “good little portable speaker.” I fully agree here.

If you’re looking for several years of use and excellent sound under $100, you can’t go wrong with the JBL Flip 5–> ahead of Prime Day. Don’t miss out.

How I rated this deal

Since this is a 30% off deal, I rated it as a 4/5 editor’s deal rating, according to ZDNET’s deal rating system. According to the deal tracking system Camel Camel Camel<!–>, this is the cheapest price the JBL Flip 5 has sold for. So at $70, it’s a legitimately good deal and is $20 off. Amazon also denotes that it’s selling fast, so it could be gone soon, and it’s no longer in stock on JBL’s website–> in any color besides black.
