The date has been set: Google’s next “Made by Google” event will be held on Wednesday, August 20, at 1 p.m. EST. This news comes from industry insider Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, who posted a screenshot of the invitation on X and was later confirmed by the official Made by Google account.

There have been very few leaks this time around, so details are scarce, but Google is expected to follow tradition by revealing its new smartphones, specifically the Pixel 10 series and a fourth-generation Pixel Watch.

The new Pixel 10 series

The Pixel 10 series will consist of the base Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. This upcoming generation likely won’t be a design overhaul, as the devices are “expected to closely resemble the Pixel 9 series”. However, they will reportedly have new processors, introduce some hardware refinement, as well as “other iterative upgrades”.

The new base model Pixel 10 looks like it may come with an extra camera, bringing it up to three total to match the Pro version. What this will do the device’s price, however, remains to be seen. Personally, I’m wary of any big price increases to the base model, as Google has already carved out a market for the Pixel’s combination of features and approachable price point.

Regarding the processor in question, it’s said to be the Tensor G5, a chipset Google has developed in collaboration with TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company). This marks a shift away from the Samsung-produced processors in previous generations of Pixels. It’s likely we’ll hear a lot more about these new chips’ performance and battery efficiency at the event.

Pixel 10 Pro Fold specs: More of the same?

Some leaked specs for the Pixel 10 Pro Fold show that the new phone shares a lot of similarities with the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. The inner display is still an eight-inch OLED panel running at 120Hz, and it still operates on 16GB of memory. The camera system doesn’t look like it’s changing much, either.

However, one thing to note is the outer OLED display on the 10 Pro Fold is bigger at 6.4 inches, and the model will have a larger 5,015mAh battery. This mirrors adjustments to the display and battery we saw this month on Samsung’s new Galaxy Z Flip 7.

Speaking about price, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold will likely be positioned as a more accessible version to Samsung’s thousand-dollar-plus Galaxy Z Fold 7, leaning on a fresh interface and additional AI-powered features rather than premium hardware.

As for non-smartphone devices, the Pixel Watch 4 will likely make an appearance. Not much is known about the wearable, but according to notable leaker OnLeaks, the future smartwatch will look like a thicker Pixel Watch 3–> sitting at 14.3mm instead of 12.3 mm. The extra bulk could account for a bigger battery. Other possible reveals include the Pixel Buds 2a and the next generation of Android XR glasses.
