Ring just launched a new Battery Doorbell with better features for the same price

Ring

Ring just announced the launch of a new Battery Doorbell. The new Ring video doorbell has a larger field of view that translates into head-to-toe video capture, a longer battery life, and color night vision — yet it remains the company’s cheapest battery-operated video doorbell.

The Ring Battery Doorbell is launching at $100, the same price as the Ring Video Doorbell, but it’s a definite upgrade from the older model. It features a 150-degree field of view, which gives an up to 66% taller view than the previous generation, which has a 1080p video resolution.

This new Ring Battery Doorbell also features color night vision, beating the Ring Video Doorbell’s IR night vision. This feature gives you a clearer, more accurate image of your front door, no matter the lighting conditions. Ring also boasts that the new Battery Doorbell has up to 23% longer battery life.

Unfortunately, the new Ring Battery Doorbell doesn’t have a Quick Release Battery Pack, which is Ring’s removable battery, currently included in the Battery Doorbell Plus and Battery Doorbell Pro. The removable battery makes it easy to quickly recharge the doorbell without removing and bringing the entire device inside. This feature also allows you to keep a fully charged spare battery ready to swap out.

Instead, the Ring Battery Doorbell has a simplified removal method with a push-pin mount. Once you install the Ring Battery Doorbell’s wall mount outside, you can attach the new Battery Doorbell, and it’ll stay securely attached to the mount. You only have to use the included push-pin tool to remove it, and the video doorbell pops out.

Compared to older and competitor models, this push-pin system makes it easier to remove the video doorbell when it needs to be charged.

As a Ring video doorbell, the new Battery Doorbell has most of the features you get with other Ring devices. These include two-way talk, live view, motion detection with customizable motion zones, Amazon Alexa integrations, and real-time alerts.

A Ring Protect Plan subscription gives you access to cloud storage for up to 180 days, Smart Alerts to advise if a person or package is at the door, and Rich Notifications to have your notifications include a photo preview.

The Ring Battery Doorbell is now available for pre-order at $100 and will begin shipping to customers on September 4.
