The weather is about to get colder, and I’ve already started making soups and stews in preparation for the autumnal and wintry seasons ahead. If I want to make a soup like tomato bisque, I have to sautee vegetables in a big Dutch oven, add broth and cream, and then transfer the boiling hot mixture to my bulky Vitamix to blend them up into a silky soup. Once the soup is blended, I transfer it back to the dutch oven on the stove where I heat it for a little longer. That’s a whole lot of back and forth just to blend some piping hot soup. An immersion blender keeps everything in one pot, so you don’t have to worry about spilling soup on your counter as you ladle it into your blender – or dirtying a blender at all.

The immersion blender comes with a 4-point stainless steel blade, a 3-cup blending jar with a lid, and a pan guard. You can also use an immersion blender to blend smoothies, shakes, and sauces. I’ve seen people turn a clove of garlic and olive oil into aioli with an immersion blender or combine salad dressing ingredients with the device.
This immersion blender may not be for everyone, but it becomes extremely helpful for the pro home cook. So that’s why I bought it. I bought the cheapest colorway of the KitchenAid immersion blender, Ice Blue, which was discounted by $13–> compared to the other colorway’s $10 discount.<!–> Ahead of Prime Day, I was keeping an eye on the price, and it wasn’t discounted at all, so I’d assume that this deal only applies to the two days of October Prime Day, and will return to its original price shortly after. My advice? Hop on it if you can – if you want a handy kitchen device that will smooth your sauces and soups right in time for soup season.
