That product name may not flow off the tongue but it certainly describes this light’s best use case. I took a chance on this product during its Black Friday discount, and it exceeded my expectations. The Neewer R06 stood out to me in its images for its design, but what surprised me most when I got it was how easy it was to use.

Made from ABS and aluminum alloy, the light has a large, flat metal weighted base that slides right under your laptop. With the laptop sitting on top of the base, the light stays safely stable. The round telescoping column is height adjustable (between 23.5 inches and 33.1 inches), and it has a wide diameter for further stability. The column screws easily into the base, and it has a large twist screw at the top to secure the column height. The 7-inch round light panel screws into the top of the column, and it has dual movement, so you can swivel and pivot the light by 180 degrees horizontally and 210 degrees vertically. The entire package weighs just 2.4 pounds and it so simple to assemble and disassemble that I’d gladly throw it in my suitcase and take it on road trips.

The LED panel light is suitable for stills and video, with 84 LEDs and step adjustable brightness up to 680 lux at a 0.5m distance. It has step-adjustable color temperature, from 3000K to 6500K, and a 95+ CRI. The 10W light operates at 5V/2A, and it has 6.2-foot built-in USB-A cable you can connect to a powered laptop port, power bank, or USB power source. The cable has a convenient in-line remote control for handling all lighting adjustments and power. A bonus: the remote has large, tactile buttons (a contrast to many of the flat, hard to press buttons I’ve seen on other lights).
