Ecobee isn’t just a smart thermostat manufacturer — the smart home company also offers a Smart Doorbell Camera and a Smart Security system. This subscription-based Smart Security service uses the Ecobee Smart Thermostat, Smart Doorbell Camera, Smart Camera, and smart sensors to monitor your home. Ecobee has now partnered with Yale and August to further expand its security system.
The new Yale and August integrations will let you disarm and arm your home’s Smart Security system, see the lock status, and remotely control the locks from the Ecobee app, simplifying the experience for Ecobee users.

“We’re excited to expand the capabilities of our Smart Security solution to support Yale and August smart locks,” said Greg Fyke, CEO of Ecobee. “When combined with our smart thermostats, we provide a unique and compelling whole home solution for energy management and security that works seamlessly together, delivering comfort and peace of mind.”
Currently, the Ecobee Smart Security system leverages the Ecobee Thermostat’s occupancy sensors, which can detect motion and keep track of when people are home or away. The Doorbell Camera, like other video doorbells, lets users get notifications when someone arrives at the front door or when motion is detected, and then they can engage using two-way talk.
Now, users will be able to see the Ecobee camera feed and, if applicable, unlock their Yale smart lock on their front door straight from the Ecobee app.
